ANOTHER PDM 2 EPISODE COMING FOR THE PEOPLE

Another episode of PDM 2 is on the horizon, featuring the usual favorites such as MQM, PML-Q, and BAP, as well as familiar faces from the IPP. The directors, particularly in matters of economy and foreign affairs, will continue to call the shots. Their support will serve as the adhesive holding the fragile government together, potentially reducing legislation to a mere farce upon request. This group of “patriotic” politicians, despite their previous failures, will once again embark on their mission to “save” Pakistan.

This situation will be frustrating not only for PTI sympathizers who voted for change but also for PML-N supporters, as it appears that the party used Nawaz Sharif’s name and stature to bolster another candidate’s position instead of ushering in Nawaz Sharif’s fourth term as PM, as promised. Nawaz’s decision to pass the government to Shehbaz Sharif serves as a poignant reminder of the achievements he attained and lost throughout his career.

It is possible that Mr. Sharif had an inkling that he was not the preferred choice, which could explain his less aggressive campaign. The announcement of his victory in this election also seemed designed to corner him. However, it remains puzzling why the seasoned politician did not refuse to participate once it became evident that he was being manipulated.

The PPP has emerged as the most shrewd among the political parties, strategically distancing itself from the baggage of the PML-N while still securing several constitutional positions.
