Pakistan’s political leadership demonstrated rare unity on Wednesday, voicing strong support for the armed forces following India’s military strikes on multiple locations within Pakistan.
The cross-border attacks, which resulted in the martyrdom of at least eight civilians and injuries to 35 others in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, have escalated tensions in the region, drawing global concern. US President Donald Trump labeled the attacks a “shame,” while China expressed regret over India’s military actions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes as a “cowardly” act by a “treacherous enemy,” declaring that Pakistan reserves the right to respond decisively. “A resolute response is already underway,” he stated on X, emphasizing that the nation stands firmly behind its armed forces.
Leaders across party lines echoed similar sentiments. Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari called the attacks acts of war, particularly criticizing the targeting of civilians. “Every aggression will be crushed. We will not tolerate violations of our sovereignty,” he said.
