Lt Gen Asim is currently serving as the Adjutant General at GHQ. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General in a statement issued on Monday said that Lieutenant General Asim Malik has been appointed as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) — country’s top spy agency.
ISPR director general in a statement said LT Gen Muhammad Asim Malik will assume his new responsibilities on September 30.
He is currently serving as the Adjutant General at GHQ.
Lt Gen Malik has previously commanded the Infantry Division in Balochistan and the Infantry Brigade in Waziristan. He has also received the Sword of Honor during his course.
Lt Gen Asim is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defense Studies. Known for his academic and leadership credentials, Lt Gen Asim was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour during his military training.
He has also served as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University (NDU) and as an instructor at Command and Staff College in Quetta. Lt Gen Asim brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new position, having held various leadership roles in the military over the years.
His appointment comes at a critical time for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, which plays a key role in both domestic and international security operations.
