Karachi Crime Rate Drops Amidst Expulsion of Illegal Immigrants

Over 207,000 foreigners residing illegally in Pakistan returned to Afghanistan, marking a significant decrease in the crime rate in Karachi, as reported by Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rand.

The repatriation on November 8 alone involved 4,119 illegal Afghans, comprising 702 families and 251 vehicles. Overall, 207,758 illegal Afghans have been repatriated. Operations against illegal residents are ongoing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with 182 individuals still in the holding camp at Haji Camp in Karachi.

Official records show 544 deportations via the Chaman border, including 70 men, 33 women, and 89 children in the Haji Camp holding camp, as reported by the district administration in Karachi.

Earlier this month, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh police claimed to have foiled a terror bid by arresting two hardcore ‘Afghan-trained’ militants from the provincial capital.

According to In-charge CTD Khurram Waris, the arrested terrorists were planning to attack the Karachi-Rohri train.

The members of a banned outfit identified as Ashraf aka Achoo and Zeeshan Hameed were also planning to abduct a fruit dealer from interior Sindh and shift him to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the CTD in charge said.

Explosives were also confiscated from the arrested terrorists who got ‘training from Afghanistan’ about bomb-making.
