Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Pakistan’s Prime Minister has called for an immediate ceasefire and lifting of the blockade in Gaza, on October 16.

He expressed Pakistan’s entire support with the oppressed people of Palestine in a tweet.

The Prime Minister expressed his profound worry over the increasing bloodshed and casualties in Gaza.

He stated that Israel’s purposeful, indiscriminate, and disproportionate targeting of people violates all standards of decency and is a clear breach of international law.

In light of the protracted, forcible, and illegal occupation of Palestinian territory, as well as the oppressive measures used against its citizens, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized that we must understand the outbreak of violence.

He urged the UN and the international community to promptly establish secure and unhindered humanitarian corridors, enabling the swift delivery of supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip.

In response to the rapidly deteriorating situation in Gaza, he said that Pakistan is closely collaborating with the OIC and its member nations.

Moreover, he said that on 18 October, OIC Executive Committee Emergency Meeting, Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani will speak and demand immediate action to ease Gazans’ suffering.

The General Secretariat offices in Jeddah Governorate, Saudi Arabia, will host the OIC Executive Committee’s special meeting.

2,329 Palestinians have died since hostilities started, more than in the six-week-long Gaza War of 2014, according to the Gaza Health Ministry on Sunday.

Israel claims that the shelling is in retaliation for a large offensive by Hamas fighters on Israeli communities on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,300 people and the kidnapping of hostages.

Pakistan opposes Israel’s existence and favors the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on “internationally agreed parameters” and the pre-1967 borders.

The Prime Minister’s remarks coincide with the expected reopening of a border crossing into Gaza under Egyptian supervision on today, Monday.

This move is part of diplomatic efforts to deliver supplies to the Hamas-run territory.

An arrangement for its secure delivery to Gaza and the evacuation of certain foreign passport holders through the Rafah border have been days in the making.

However, Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula is currently holding up hundreds of metric tonnes of relief from several nations.

Rafah will open once more. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed this during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday.

He added that, “We’re putting in place with the United Nations, with Egypt, with Israel, and with others a mechanism by which to get the assistance in and to get it to people who need it”.
