Oman’s low-cost carrier SalamAir completed its maiden flight from Muscat to Peshawar on Monday, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement, making it the fourth Pakistani destination for the Omani airline’s flights.
On Aug. 16, SalamAir announced Pakistan’s northwestern Peshawar city as a new destination for its flights, adding that it would operate two flights per week to Peshawar every Monday and Thursday.
The airline, which kicked off its flight operations to Pakistan with Sialkot on May 17, 2017, also operates flights to Multan, Karachi, and Sialkot.
“SalamAir’s first flight from Muscat to Peshawar arrived at 3:13 a.m. in the morning,” the CAA said in a statement. “The inaugural flight was given a traditional water salute by fire tenders on the taxiway.”
Separately, SalamAir also took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to break the news. “SalamAir launched its inaugural flight from Muscat to Peshawar today,” the airline wrote.
Senior SalamAir officials, including the airline’s managing director and director of operations traveled to Peshawar on the same flight, the CAA said. It added that the Omani airline held a ceremony at Peshawar airport’s CIP Lounge to celebrate the occasion.
