The government has decreased the prices of petrol and diesel, which will bring a sigh of relief to the people affected by inflation. The petrol price in Pakistan has been reduced by 9 rupees. The Finance Minister said “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants to pass on maximum relief to the people of Pakistan hence the government is not making any change in petroleum development levy (PDL) that is a part of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal,”.
Well, finally, we have some good news for the citizens! The reduction in fuel prices appears to be primarily due to the decrease in the dollar rate. Interestingly, while international prices have risen since the last price revision on July 1, 2023, the government has taken the opposite approach by reducing prices locally. However, some may view this as a publicity stunt aimed at gaining an advantage in the upcoming elections.
