The 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, held today virtually under the Indian presidency, concluded with the New Delhi Declaration, in which the leaders of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan first of all they confirmed “their commitment to the formation of a more representative, democratic, just and multipolar world order”. In addition, the member states pledged to “further develop cooperation in the fields of politics and security, trade, the economy, finance and investment, cultural and humanitarian ties”. The eight states officially welcomed Iran as a new full member and Belarus as a signatory country to the memorandum on membership obligations. The summit concluded India’s presidency, which passed the baton to Kazakhstan.

The first statement focuses on cooperation in countering radicalization leading to terrorism, separatism and extremism, while the second statement emphasizes cooperation in the field of digital transformation.
