Tashkurgan Khunjerab Airport is just an hour drive (100+KM) from Hunza, Khunjerab Pass, Pak-China Border and opened on December 23, 2022.
At an elevation of 3,200 Meters (10,500 ft), it is breathtakingly beautiful High Plataeu Airport. China invested US$251 million in the Airport which has been designed to handle 400 tons and 160,000 passengers annually. Test flights were already started at the airport in December 2022.
Now with Pak & China signing Visa on arrival at Khunjerab Pass, imagine international tourist entering Hunza from this international airport besides trade facilitation at Sost dry port in Hunza under CPEC. This airport is also being linked to Skardu International Airport and taking all connections from Skardu too.
Such International airports in addition to already launched Dasu & Bhasha Dams, 4-G mobile connectivity, multiple access roads, Russian connection, etc. ensuring achieving potential of GIlgitBaltistan & Pakistan which can easily take our economy ahead leaps and bounds in few years. We just need proper 5 year focus on Tourism by the government and BINGO!!!
