Virgin Atlantic announced on Monday it will discontinue direct flights from London’s Heathrow airport to Pakistan’s cities of Islamabad and Lahore.
The carrier noted in the statement that flights between Britain’s capital to Lahore and Islamabad will continue until May 1 and July 9 respectively. “Since commencing operations in December 2020 … we have also provided important cargo capacity, as well as delivering vital medical supplies,” the British airline’s spokesperson said. “This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we’d like to apologize for any inconvenience caused,” the company said.
Last week, Virgin Atlantic’s chief executive officer, Shai Weiss, told FOX Business that the travel industry has been negatively impacted by the widespread layoffs that have been made by leading tech firms in the United States and the United Kingdom.
