Report suggests global lender had every reason to set tough conditions
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed dissatisfaction over the actions of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and demanded further increase in levy on diesel.
According to the details, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Sources say that the IMF demanded to increase the levy on diesel in January and February, after which the government has decided not to give complete relief on diesel next month.
Finance Ministry sources say that petroleum levy will be increased by Rs 20 more in 2 months i.e. till February 2023.
According to the sources, there is an agreement with the IMF to impose a levy of Rs 50 per liter on diesel.
Sources further say that the IMF has demanded that the tax-to-GDP ratio be increased
