A court in Lahore has acquitted Rana Sanaullah Khan of smuggling heroin in his car, ending a high-profile case that focused public interest on how the justice system would treat the loud-mouthed minister for interior.
Khan was arrested in July 2019 by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway. Firdous Aashiq Awan, then-minister for information, said 15 kilograms of heroin was seized from his vehicle.
He spent nearly six months in prison until the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered his release on bail after ruling that no substantial evidence was ever presented to the court.

Our policing, our legislation our judiciary all are bad and worse in the world. The reason is that there is no accountability of any of these to anybody.
Take an example – Police can delay a criminal case investigation till it suits them. Any body can bribe police officers to arrest a person on a very flimsy ground. Court has the power to allow compensation to arrested party. But court can decide to allow compensation only if police decides to file charge sheet. In such cases police can delay the charge sheet by more than 20 years. As per existing practice the judiciary will not intervene. judiciary can only help to set free the arrested person.
Same is true for judiciary. There is no check of a judge decides to give a long date. There are judges today who give a short date of 10 days. There are others who are still giving dates of 6 months.
There are no rules for any one.
