Air Blue is not providing wheel chairs for a long time to the disabled passengers. It has been nearly a decade old story, which is evident from the following erupts:
Wednesday, 24 July 2013
AirBlue Disability advocate Reduced Mobility Rights requests the CAA suspend Pakistan’s AirBlue operating permit on allegations of discrimination against passengers with disabilities.
In light of the above statement Reduced Mobility Rights sent a request to the Civil Aviation Authority to suspend AirBlue operating permit, therefore putting their flight to the UK on hold, on the basis of non-compliance with EC1107/2006. Copy of the request has been forwarded to the Directorate General of the Transport Cabinet at the EU Commission, and to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.
Coming to Shaheen Air, it used to say in 2014 “Sorry, we don’t provide attendants and don’t allow wheelchairs inside the planes,” claimed a ticket-reservation operator at Shaheen Air. “Only those who can walk are permitted to travel.”
While the CIVIL AVIATION RULES, 1994 (AMENDED UP TO DATE) says that wheel chairs to be provided free of charge.
Why the Civil Aviation Authority is sleeping on this issue when it comes to Air Blue, some murky nexus, or just negligiblity. For how long the disabled persons will have to crawl from boarding longue to the aircraft and then back. We are proud to call ourselves Islamic country, what sort of Islam are we showing to the world?
