October 19, 2022: Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies organized the inaugural ceremony of a two-day international flagship seminar titled “Global Strategic Threat and Response” (G-STAR) at Air Headquarters Islamabad today. President Of The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi Was The Chief Guest On The Occasion. He was received by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu on his arrival at Air Headquarters Islamabad.

In his inaugural address, President Dr Arif Alvi lauded the key steps taken to make maximum use of the knowledge sector of PAF in its operations. The President appreciated the administration of the Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies for organizing a thought-provoking seminar on contemporary strategic issues. Complex issues in world politics have affected the traditional balance of power and the security environment and require an appropriate response through national cohesion. He highlighted that in the present era, new centers of power are being formed with the sharing of technology and wealth. He concluded that “a new order needs to be built based on human equality, respect for human security, use of new technology and commitment to peace”.

Earlier, in his welcome speech, the Chief of the Air Staff highlighted that increasing hostilities between major powers are weakening international institutions and increasing traditional and non-traditional security problems. In the context of new technology, he pointed to the dangerous consequences of selective collaboration and its impact on regional stability. The Air Chief stressed the need for international consensus to address the challenges of these technologies. He reiterated pakistan air force’s commitment to play its role in protecting national interests and apprised the audience about the important initiatives in various fields including operations, capacity building, organization and training to make PAF a modern force. The Chief of the Air Staff also announced the formal launch of The National Aerospace and Technology Park (NASTP) with an aim to accelerate the technology acquisition drive on the basis of local capabilities in the country. The first park of its kind will be inaugurated this year while two other technology parks will be set up soon.
Later, President Dr Arif Alvi called on the Chief of The Air Staff at his office. During the meeting, the President was briefed about the operational capabilities of paf and operational preparedness to deal with any external threat to national security. The Air Chief highlighted pakistan air force’s comprehensive plan to enhance the capabilities of established and newly emerging disruptive technologies in the fields of aerospace, cyber, IT and artificial intelligence at the national level. Appreciating the role of PaF in defending Pakistan’s borders, the President highlighted the importance of air force in the contemporary geographical and political environment. Appreciating the operational preparedness of paf, he said that the country is proud of its brave armed forces. He lauded the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its support to the government of Pakistan in dealing with natural disasters along with the responsibility of defending the country. Expressing full confidence in the leadership of PAF, he said that PAF is moving fast on the path of development and excellence in human resources, technical, operational and industrial sectors and truly the capital of the nation is pride.
