Rejecting fake claims of Indian Coast Guard
On 9 August 2022, the merchant ship Yamuna Sagar sank off southeast Gwadar with 10x crew members aboard. Responding to a distress call, 9x crew members were rescued by the nearby merchant vessel MT Kuribeke while 1x person was missing.
Indian authorities requested the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) to assist in the search and rescue operation. PMSA was tasked with deploying its ships and helicopters to conduct S&R operations along with JMICC and Pakistan Navy.
Pakistan Navy has assigned 1 ship and 2 helicopters for the search operation to search for the missing crew member. In a coordinated search operation, Pakistan Navy helicopters located the overturned small boat south of Pisni while a Pakistan Navy ship recovered the body.
After the recovery of the deceased, the Pakistan Navy ship is proceeding to return to Karachi where MV Koribeck has rescued 9x personnel on board and is proceeding to Dubai.
