The allegations that Imran Khan’s government violated the constitution are tenuous at best. The constitution was still in force, the courts were still operating, the parliament was in session, and democracy was still in operation when he was removed.
The US government, on the other hand, was not happy with his recent visit to Russia. They believed he picked a side by visiting Moscow in February, and that if Imran Khan remained in power, “Pakistan will be punished and isolated by the West.”
However, Imran Khan maintains broad public support in Pakistan. The new government, other political parties, state institutions, and the Supreme Court cannot deny it. In reality, Pakistan’s sympathizers throughout the world cannot deny it.
